The City of Level Plains celebrated Alabama’s Bicentennial on April 30, 2019 by hosting a 100-year time capsule burial ceremony. Level Plains Mayor Bruce Grantham welcomed guests to the ceremony. The National Anthem was sung by Billy Crawford. Afterwards, Bicentennial Committee Chair James Bullinger announced how the committee came to decide on burying the time capsule as their event. Keynote remarks for the event were given by Ken Smith, director of the Alabama League of Municipalities. Mayor Grantham then dedicated the time capsule and was joined by Level Plains city council members Leeanne Mohler, Philip Cole and Gregory Eldridge for the time capsule unveiling.
