Heritage Forum: Haunted Wiregrass History

Guest speakers will present programs on state and local history. Heritage Forums take place on Sundays in July starting July 14. 3 p.m., Interpretive Center Auditorium. Join Dale Cox of Two Egg TV and learn about our haunted heritage. Explore allegedly haunted sites around the Wiregrass and hear the ghost stories that accompany them. Presented by Kari Barley, Curator of the Alabama Agricultural Museum, this session will explore the history of peanut farming in Kari’s hometown of Troy. Registration required. Join James L. Baggett, with the Birmingham Public Library Department of Archives and Manuscripts, and learn about the flu epidemic that devastated Alabama in 1819.


Landmark Park Benefit Car Show
Where: Landmark Park

Time: 10 am – 2 pm
Cost: $5 for adults, $3 for kids, free for members, $10 to register a car

Enjoy the cooler weather while viewing the large display of antique cars, ranging in age from “T” Models to sporty custom classics. This year with an expanded kid’s area! The Car Show is an official AL200 Bicentennial Event.


Landmark Park Quilt Show
Where: Landmark Park
October 18-20
Time: Friday and Sunday: 1 pm – 4 pm; Saturday: 10 a.m.- 4 p.m.
Cost: Friday and Sunday: $4 for adults, $3 for kids, and free for members; Saturday: $8 Adults; $6 Seniors/Military; $4 Kids (ages 3-12); FREE for park members

Held in conjunction with the park’s annual Fall Farm Day, this quilt show features over 100 antique and contemporary quilts displayed inside the Stokes Activity Barn. This juried show includes exhibits, door prizes, speakers and more. The Quilt Show is an official AL200 Event, celebrating Alabama’s Bicentennial.


Fall Farm Day
Where: Landmark Park
October 19, 2019
Time: 10 am – 4 pm
Cost: $8 Adults; $6 Seniors/Military; $4 Kids (ages 3-12); FREE for park members

Come and watch how peanuts were harvested in the Wiregrass nearly 100 years ago. Enjoy the sights, sounds and sweet smells of cane grinding, syrup making, butter churning, soap making and other traditional farm activities. Other activities include music, antique tractors, wagon rides and the largest quilt display in the Wiregrass region. Fall Farm Day is an official AL200 Event, celebrating Alabama’s Bicentennial.



Victorian Christmas
Where: Landmark Park
December 8, 2019
Time: 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Cost: Free

Sip hot apple cider or hot chocolate while listening to Christmas carols and visiting with Santa. Enjoy old fashioned desserts, arts and crafts, music, wagon rides and handmade decorations. A circuit riding preacher will deliver a holiday message. Admission is free and visitors are encouraged to bring non perishable food items for donation to the Food Bank. Victorian Christmas is an official AL200 Bicentennial event.
